Addressing How to Minister to Those Struggling with Same-Sex Attractions
Thought Provoking Quote
Do you know that back in the early 1990s a clinical study by the University of Minnesota revealed that nearly 26% of children were unsure of their sexual orientation? (Means of Grace: A Primer for Understanding and Care of Souls Affected by Homosexuality, Kent A. Paris.) The key question is: what are we doing today to help individuals work through the root issues so they are not tempted to give in to their same sex attractions?

GOD'S TAKE ON HOMOSEXUALITY

  • Original Intent & Design: God created us male and female and the two together make up the image of God. He wants it to be one man and one woman in a committed marriage relationship for a lifetime. Any sexual relations outside of that intent and design is against His will.(Gen. 1: 26-27)

  • Broken Reality: We are sinful fallen people living in a sinful fallen world experiencing a completely different reality than God originally designed us for. (Rom. 3:10-18, 23)

  • Hope for Change: In Jesus Christ, we all can find forgiveness, healing, new life and hope to overcome our struggles and temptations. (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 5:9-11; Galatians 5:16-18)

RELUCTANT SPOKES PEOPLE

I have never enjoyed being on the stage and speaking. Probably the only reason I am addressing this topic is that I felt like God wanted to use me to help to open the eyes of the church on this needed topic. I was one of many who sat in the church and in a Christian movement for years and heard no hope given to those who struggled in this area of their lives. What God asks of the Israelites is the same question He asks of the church today, "Is there no balm in Gilead?" I believe there is! [Read more]

HOW TO LOVE BOLDLY

We hold to the firm belief that God loves us all and that He wants us all to love each other. We as Christians need to first look at some of our own heart attitudes and allow God to put within us His deep love for the gay and lesbian community. Then we need to begin to figure out how we can build bridges of trust and friendship so that we can share with them the hope that is within us that can only be found in an intimate loving relationship with Jesus Christ. The Good News of the gospel is that God loves us all and accepts us where we are at and yet He doesn’t want to leave us there!!

RESOURCES TO MINISTER

Our aim is to equip the body of Christ to do a better job in helping to surface those who struggle with same sex attractions and minister to them in a loving and helpful way. Secondly we want to challenge believers to love those who identify themselves as gay as Jesus loves them and as He loves us all.

We have provided you with a recommended book list, websites, and ministries.

We also provide two different study guides if you surface men who struggle and you are willing to lead them one-on-one or in a group for men who struggle in this area.

We are also willing to come and speak on your campus, at conferences or retreats, or in your church.

We are also available to respond to your emails and talk on the phone.
